NOTE: Please have all sessions that will have check-in and any documents created prior to setting up beacons. The setup allows you to link items that have already been created in QP.
Under Content, click on Beacons to load the beacon setup. To add a new Beacon, click New, or click on the Name of an existing one to make modifications.
Please fill in the required fields under Beacon Details.
UUID is not unique and will likely be the same for each batch of beacons.
Major Number and Minor Number are all unique to each individual beacon. This information should be listed in the box but you can use the Estimote app to find this information for each beacon.
The Name field allows you to easily nickname and identify each individual beacon.
The Detection Range allows you to set how far away from the beacon a device needs to be for it to trigger an action.
Immediate – You need to be almost touching the beacon for it to be triggered.
Near – You can walk within roughly 10 feet for it to trigger the beacon.
Far – Up to the theoretical max limit of 70 m (230 ft.). Please do not expect this as wireless signals are subject to interference and diffraction, which may reduce the range of detection. The Events and Documents tab are where you link what item will be triggered when the beacon comes in range of your device. Only one document can be linked to a beacon but you can assign multiple session check in's to one beacon. The use case for this is that one beacon will be placed in one room and check attendees in based on the check in times.
Tap Save once you have finished configuring your beacon.
